Effective DIY Tips for Hair Removal
Hair growth on certain parts of the body makes women conscious, leaving them feeling awkward and uncomfortable. While having unwanted hair doesn’t pose any health risks, it can be pretty embarrassing. Women develop unwanted hair due to hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual cycles, and post-pregnancy changes in their bodies. Discover some effective DIY procedures for hair removal at home.
1. Sugar wax
It’s the most inexpensive and the safest way to get rid of unwanted hair from the comfort of your home. Sugar waxing or sugaring is the hair-removal procedure that binds to the hair to pull it out from its roots. It’s an excellent option for women with sensitive skin since it hardly irritates. The solution can be used anywhere on your body to remove hair, but ensure the hair is at least 1/4” in length to pull out the hair completely.
Mix sugar with lemon juice in a small saucepan and heat it on low flame until it reaches 245°F. Cool it to room temperature and take a craft stick to apply evenly over the area you want to remove hair. Firmly press a clean fabric over the applied area, and let it stay there for a few minutes for the wax to firm up. Pull the fabric quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth to get smooth, hair-free skin.
2. Use baking soda and turmeric
Mix two teaspoons of baking soda with one teaspoon of turmeric with water to make a thin paste. Apply this paste to the hair removal area and let it dry completely. Next, you can remove the dried texture using a clean cloth or gently rub your hand over. Rinse away the remains entirely and apply a good moisturizer.
3. Try potato and lentils paste
Take a handful of moong dal or some lentils and soak it in water overnight. In the morning, grind it into a paste and take a potato to grate it and extract its juice. Mix the juice with the paste and add a tablespoon of honey with lime. Generously apply this mixture to the hair removal area and leave it for drying. Finally, rub off the texture to get smooth, silky, hair-free skin.
4. Oatmeal and banana scrub
Mix oatmeal with mashed banana and apply and massage it onto the area for hair removal. As you keep massaging, it removes all unwanted hair and also significantly reduces further growth.
5. Cornflour peel off mask
Take a half cup of Cornflour and mix it with a small cup of milk. Apply this paste to the area where you want to remove hair, and leave it until it dries completely. Peel it off easily and pat dry with a clean cloth for luscious and smooth skin.
6. Rosewater and alum powder
Alum has purification and anti-wrinkle properties that also help in hair removal. Mix half a teaspoon of powdered alum to three teaspoons of rose water to make a paste. Apply it to your hair removal part and leave it for about an hour. Wash off with cold water and apply a moisturizer or coconut oil.
